Indicator lights indicate the status of certain functions or malfunctions. Driver instructions may appear at the same time as some warning lights. At the same time, a warning signal sounds. The indications that appear disappear after a short period of time. To show the instructions again, press the SET button. If several functional faults occur, the indicator lamps light up sequentially for 2 seconds each. When the ignition is switched on, some warning lamps light up briefly to monitor the functionality of the respective system. In the tables below, these systems are highlighted with the symbol «U». If one of these indicator lights does not light up, this indicates a malfunction of the corresponding system.
Driver Information System
Wiper control handle: RESET button
The driver information system provides the following information: radio station or CD; time and date; outside temperature: at temperatures below +4°C, a symbol in the form of a snowflake appears to the left of the temperature display; total and daily mileage; shift lever position with automatic transmission; selectable gears with manual transmission; warning about an open door, engine cover. compartment or trunk door; frequency of service; warning lights and driver instructions; speed alarm system.
By pressing the RESET button, the following functions can be activated: Trip computer, Digital speedometer, Navigation system, Tire pressure monitoring system, Cruise control system, «adaptive cruise control».
Attention. Never use the outside temperature indication as a basis when determining the likelihood of ice on the road. Remember that ice is possible even at an outside temperature of +4°C! Risk of accident due to ice!
Note: For some vehicle models, the images of the driver information system on the instrument panel differ from those shown here. The units of measurement, for example temperature or speed, can be changed in the radio or MMI. When the vehicle is stationary or moving at a very low speed, the displayed outside temperature may be slightly higher than the actual temperature due to the heat emitted by the engine.
Applies to vehicles: with manual transmission and gearshift display
Display: Gear shift indication
Display: Turning Recommended Gear On/Off
Based on the gear shift indication while driving, you can save fuel. The gearshift indicator can be switched on or off in the radio or MMI.
Turning the gear shift indicator on and off
Select: vehicle function key CAR → Instrument cluster (dashboard) → Suggested gear (recommended gear). To understand the gearshift display instructions, start driving as usual. When a selected gear in driving mode no longer provides optimum fuel consumption, a recommendation appears to change to the correct gear. The display shows the included and recommended gears.
Upshift: If an upshift is recommended, a corresponding display appears to the right of the gear engaged display. Downshifting: If downshifting is recommended, a corresponding indication appears to the left of the gear indicator. This may also require you to skip certain transmissions (3 → 5). If there is no prompt, continue driving in the current gear.
Dashboard display: maintenance interval indication
Display: indication of maintenance intervals
The service interval indicator shows that the vehicle needs to be serviced. Type of upcoming service (preventive inspection or oil change) can be found on the radio display or MMI in the menu «Car». The display displays messages of 2 levels.
1. Service reminder: when a certain number of kilometers remain before the upcoming maintenance, every time after turning on the ignition, the indication SERVICE IN - KM ----- DAYS appears on the dashboard display (service in —- km — days). The data on kilometers and days do not depend on each other; if the service due date, calculated by day, has come, the message Service due appears on the display! (technical inspection required!), despite the fact that the required mileage has not yet been completed. And vice versa - if the service due date, calculated by kilometers, has come, then the message Service due appears on the display again! (technical inspection required!), despite the fact that the period shown by day has not yet expired. The remaining mileage and time are briefly shown on the display each time the ignition is switched on.
2. A technical inspection is required: if the maintenance period has come, then immediately after turning on the ignition, the message Service due appears on the display! (technical inspection required!). After a while the standard display appears. Additionally, an audible signal sounds.
Viewing service information (number of kilometers and days until the upcoming service)
On the menu «Car» you can find out the number of kilometers and days remaining until the upcoming oil change and upcoming service. To do this, select the function key CAR → Service interval display (frequency TO). In new vehicles, during the first 500 km, there may be no full indication on the display.
Resetting the service interval indication
After service, Audi resets the display. The driver can only reset the oil change indication. To do this, select the function key CAR → Service interval display (frequency TO) → Reset oil change interval (oil change reset). After resetting the oil change indication, the next oil change will be required after 15,000 km or after 1 year (regular maintenance).
Carefully! When the vehicle's battery is disconnected, the parameters of the maintenance interval indicator cannot be calculated, and a maintenance reminder is not displayed. Keep in mind that compliance with the frequency of maintenance is crucial to ensure the durability of the vehicle and its safety. This is especially true for the engine. Even with low mileage, the maximum service interval must not be exceeded. Do not reset the indication between oil changes, otherwise the indication will be incorrect. When the battery terminals are disconnected, the service interval indication remains unchanged. If the service was not carried out at a specialized enterprise, the oil change indication can only be set to «constant service intervals», amounting to 15,000 km. To maintain the right to service at reduced intervals «LongLife» The oil change indication must be reset by a specialized company.
Applies to vehicles: with on-board computer
The on-board computer informs about average fuel consumption and average speed, current fuel consumption, fuel range, driving time and the number of kilometers traveled.
On-board computer: average fuel consumption
The on-board computer analyzes and can sequentially display the following information on the dashboard display.
Fuel range
The display shows the range in kilometers. This display shows how many kilometers the car can still travel with the actual remaining fuel in a given driving mode. The fuel range is calculated in 10 km increments.
Average fuel consumption
The display shows the average fuel consumption in l/100 km since the memory was last reset. Thanks to this indication, you can select a driving mode with optimal fuel consumption.
Current fuel consumption
The display shows the current fuel consumption, measured in l/100 km. Thanks to this indication, you can select a driving mode with optimal fuel consumption. Consumption is calculated for each 30-meter section of the path. When the vehicle is stationary, the display switches to l/h (l litres/hour).
Average speed
The display shows the average speed in km/h calculated since the memory was last deleted.
Driving time
The display shows the driving time counted since the last time the storage device was deleted.
Number of kilometers traveled
The display shows the number of kilometers traveled since the storage device was last deleted. When the battery terminals are disconnected, all stored values are deleted from the memory device.
Applies to vehicles: with on-board computer
The on-board computer is equipped with two automatic, working storage devices.
On-board computer: storage device 1
Windshield wiper control: trip computer controls
Pressing the reset button «Reset» -B-on-board computer functions 1 and 2 are switched. Which of the storage devices is currently turned on can be determined by the number displayed on the display. The appearance of number 1 on the display means indication of data from a one-time storage device (on-board computer 1). The appearance of number 2 on the display means the data of the general storage device is indicated (on-board computer 2).
Disposable storage device (on-board computer 1)
A one-time storage device stores information about movement from the moment the ignition is turned on until it is turned off. When you resume driving within 2 hours after turning off the ignition, new values are added to the already saved driving information. If the movement is interrupted for more than 2 hours, then after the movement is resumed, the data of the storage device is automatically reset.
Shared storage (on-board computer 2)
Unlike disposable storage, shared storage cannot automatically delete data. Thanks to this, it is possible to set the time period over which information or traffic data is analyzed.
Windshield wiper control: trip computer controls
The on-board computer is controlled by 2 switches mounted in the windshield wiper control handle. Press the top or bottom side of the function switch -A-. The display consistently displays data about the vehicle's movement. The on-board computer can only be controlled when the ignition is on. When the ignition is turned on, the display shows the function selected before the ignition was turned off. In addition to the on-board computer data (on-board computer 1 or 2) The display also shows information on other systems. To switch the display of this information, briefly press and release the button «Reset» -IN-.
Setting zero values
To delete one current parameter of the on-board computer, select the required function and hold down the button «Reset» -B- for at least 1 second. Via button «Reset» The following values can be individually reset to zero: average fuel consumption; average speed; travel time; number of kilometers traveled. In addition, it is also possible to simultaneously delete all single and shared storage values. When the battery terminals are disconnected, all stored values are deleted from the memory device.
MMI display: trip computer
Basic settings for the on-board computer are made in the radio or MMI.
Select: vehicle function key CAR → Instrument cluster (instrument cluster) → On-board computer 1 (on-board computer 1) or On-board computer 2 (on-board computer 2). In the data reset menu, you can reset all one-time and general storage device values at once. In addition, you can define what information about the vehicle's movement should be displayed on the display. If any traffic information is disabled, the information will not appear on the display. However, the information continues to be analyzed by the on-board computer and can be displayed on the display at any time.
