Installation



Installation is carried out in reverse order. The tightening torque must be observed. When replacing only the ELV control unit "J764", the previously installed control unit mounting bolt must be used again. When replacing the steering column, the protective cover must be removed and the ELV control unit mounting bolt "J764" supplied with the new steering column must be used. When installing the ELV control unit, insert the pin "arrow A" into the groove "arrow B" of the steering column.

Make sure that the ELV control unit wiring harness "3" "J764" "1" when moving the steering column, it is not pinched or touches sharp edges. After replacing the ELV control unit "J764", the following work must be performed using. To do this, select the appropriate program in the "Guided functions" and follow the instructions on the display. If after replacement the steering angle sensor indicator lamp "G85" lights up in the instrument cluster, the fault must be corrected in the "Guided Fault Finding" mode using the "VAS 5051 B" Diagnostic System.
