Installation of mirrors
L - left mirror
R - right mirror
О - neutral position of the switch
A - folding both mirrors
Before starting a journey, the rear-view mirrors must be set correctly so that a view to the rear is ensured at all times.
Interior rearview mirror with manual anti-glare adjustment
In the normal position of the mirror, the lever on the underside of the mirror should face forward.
Using this lever, the mirror can be moved to another position, in which the headlights from behind the vehicle will not dazzle the driver.
Anti-dazzle interior rear view mirror with automatic repositioning
The mirror is set to a position convenient for the driver manually. When the ignition is switched on, the mirror automatically changes its reflectivity when it receives light, for example from the headlights of a vehicle behind it.
When reverse gear is engaged or the automatic transmission control lever is moved to R, the mirror returns to its reflectivity.
Audi vehicles are equipped with convex or aspherical exterior mirrors.
Convex mirrors increase the field of view. However, the objects in them appear reduced. Therefore, such mirrors are only limitedly suitable for estimating the distance to vehicles following behind.
Aspherical exterior mirrors have a different convex surface and increase the field of view more than conventional convex mirrors. However, they are also only limitedly useful for estimating the distance to vehicles behind.
Automatic side mirrors as standard
The electrically adjustable exterior mirrors can only be adjusted after the ignition is switched on by setting the switch to the desired position to select the appropriate mirror and pressing the switch in the desired plane.
In the event of a failure of the electric mirror drive, it can be adjusted manually by holding the edge of the mirror.
Mirror on the driver's side with automatic adjustment of the position when reversing
When reverse gear is engaged, the mirror glass on the driver's side tilts down if the drive switch was pressed beforehand. This ensures, for example, when driving into a parking lot, the visibility of the curb. The mirror returns to its original position immediately after disengaging reverse gear or by pressing the switch.
Side mirrors with folding function
Using the switch, you can, if necessary, fold the left or right mirror.
Folding the mirror is necessary, for example, when parking in a narrow space.
Using the switch, the folded mirror can be returned to its original position.
Attention! When the mirror is displaced as a result of an external influence, for example, an impact, it folds completely. Do not return the folded mirror to its original position by force, by hand. This may affect their functioning.
Side mirrors with memory function
On vehicles with driver's seat memory, the position of the exterior mirrors is also memorized.
First, the driver's seat is set to the desired position, and then the side mirrors are aligned with the position of the seat.
When the ignition is switched on, the exterior mirrors are heated.
