Headlight adjustment (Audi Q7-4L-D)

1. Before you begin adjusting the headlights, do the following:

• Place the car on a horizontal surface;
• Replace damaged lenses and mirrors, as well as blackened bulbs;
• Check and, if necessary, adjust the tire pressure;
• Make sure the vehicle is not overloaded (has a curb weight, and the driver's seat has a load of 75 kg);
• Check that the headlights are installed correctly relative to the hood (clearances, see Specifications to Chapter 11);
• Turn on the low beam and turn the headlight range control several times (if available) to the extreme values, then return it to the "0" position;
• Adjust the screen for adjustment along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle parallel to the plane on which the vehicle is located. Set the screen to the headlight adjustment value (e = 1.0% or 2.0%, indicated on the headlight or fog light respectively);
• On models with xenon headlights, clear the fault memory and apply the basic headlight adjustment settings using the diagnostic tool (see Chapter 5).

2. When adjusting the headlights, the border between light and shadow should be on the horizontal line of the screen (1 in the illustration), and the point (2) of intersection of the horizontal and inclined boundaries must be located on the vertical line drawn through the central point (3).





After proper adjustment, the center of the low beam should be at the center point (3). When using older adjustment screens with a 15° angled line, this angle should be ignored.

Note: To help you locate the tipping point, have an assistant close and open the left side of the headlight several times.

3. To adjust the headlight, there are screws on its upper side (see illustrations).



Turn on the low beam. Adjust the height by turning the screw (1), and then adjust the headlight horizontally by turning the screw (2).

4. When adjusting the fog lights, the border between light and shadow should be on the horizontal line of the screen (see illustration).





5. Use a screw to adjust the height of the fog light (see illustration), accessible after removing the fog light cover.



Lateral adjustment is not provided. The tilt value for the fog lamp is 2.0%.
