Air Conditioner Control Panel (Audi A6 C5)

The control buttons are illuminated by LEDs that cannot be replaced.

Removal

Before removing the panel, recall the errors stored in it from memory.

Turn off the ignition and remove the ground wire from the battery.

Attention

• When disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals, the memory units of the control units erase the data on the recorded faults, so before disconnecting the wires, you must contact a workshop to recall the faults recorded in the memory. After connecting the wires to the battery terminals, it is necessary to activate and reprogram the electric windows, as well as the position of the rear-view mirrors and seats.
• If the car has a radio receiver with a code, then before disconnecting the wires from the terminals from the battery, check that there is a code to reactivate the receiver. Otherwise, the radio receiver can only be put into operation at a specialized station.

Remove the radio.

Remove the front center console.

Unscrew screws A (Fig. 13.8) securing the air conditioner control panel.



Pull out the air conditioner control panel B (Fig. 13.8).



Release the fasteners F (Fig. 13.9) and disconnect the electrical connectors A/B/C/D from the back of the air conditioner control panel B.



Release the retainer (Fig. 13.9) and disconnect the electrical connector E.

Installation

Install the air conditioner control panel.

Connect the electrical connectors to the back of the panel.

Place the air conditioner control panel back in place and secure with screws.

Install the radio.

Connect the ground wire to the battery. Repeat the steps to memorize the position of the seats, mirrors, etc., and also set the time on the clock and enter the code into the radio.

Check the control panel coding and enter the basic installation code if necessary. If, when installing a new display, the display lights up for two minutes after turning on the ignition, the control panel must be recoded. This work must be done at a service station.
