Removal
1. Raise and support the front of the vehicle.
2. Remove the lower engine panels.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
4. Disconnect the wires from the reverse light switch, speedometer and multifunction switch.
5. On 5-cylinder engines, remove the bolts securing the reaction rod.
6. Remove the bolts securing the top of the gearbox to the engine.
7. Secure the engine to the lift.

8. Remove the crossmember from under the rear of the transmission.
9. Remove the front section of the exhaust pipe.
10. Remove the starter
11. Disconnect the gear shift lever from the shift rod.
12. Disconnect the shafts from the drive flanges.
13. Remove the clutch slave cylinder, but do not disconnect the hose.
14. Place a jack under the gearbox.

15. Unscrew the bolts.
16. Remove the bolts securing the lower part of the gearbox to the engine.
17. Disconnect the gearbox from the engine and lower it.

18. If necessary, remove the rear gearbox mounts. The arrow indicates the rear gearbox mount locating pin.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
