Warning: The coolant is slightly toxic and must not be disposed of in places not designated for its disposal. Local authorities should be informed about the places where the fluid will be disposed of.
Removal
Warning: There is danger when lifting and placing the vehicle on stands! Therefore, first read the subsection car jacking.
1. Raise and place the car on stands.
2. Remove the bottom cover of the engine compartment, while referring to the subsection Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
Warning: Before tearing off the expansion tank on a hot engine, place a thick rag on it to prevent burns from hot liquid and steam. Open the reservoir cap only when the coolant temperature is below +90°C.
3. Open the cap of the expansion tank.
4. Place a clean container under the radiator.
5. Open the drain plug (arrow illustration) turn left. It is recommended to put a hose on the drain pipe. Collect draining liquid.
6. Diesel and some gasoline engines: Optionally remove the coolant hose from below the oil/coolant cooler (oil radiator). To do this, open the clamp using the HAZET 798-5 tool and slide it fully back. The oil cooler is located at the oil filter flange. Drain the oil completely.
Refueling
7. Make a mixture of 50% water and 50% anti-freeze and anti-corrosion agent, referring to subsection Antifreeze - a means of protection against freezing.
8. Slide the coolant hose onto the oil cooler and secure with a hose clamp.
9. Tighten the drain plug on the radiator.
10. Establish the bottom cover of an impellent compartment, thus address to subsection Removal and installation of the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
11. Lower the car onto its wheels.
12. Slowly fill the system up to the MAX mark on the expansion tank.
13. Start the engine and let it run at a high speed of 1500 rpm for about 2 minutes. At the same time, fill the expansion tank with liquid up to the overflow hole.
14. Close expansion tank.
15. Start the engine so that the electric fan turns on.
16. Stop the engine and let it cool down.
17. Check the coolant level and top up if necessary. For a warm engine, the fluid level should reach the MAX mark, for a cold one it should lie between the MAX and MIN·marks.
