Removal
Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Wash the hood outside and wipe with chamois leather. Unlock the service cover from the inside. Unlock the hood and pull it forward a little. Remove the hood. Where available, remove the hose from the holders. Remove the engine compartment cover.

Unclip the resonator holder "4" using the release lever "80.200" on the lock shelf. Unscrew the bolts "2". Remove the water trap "3" in the "direction of the arrow". Disconnect the hose "1" from the lock shelf and the air duct housing. Unclip the holder "5" of the wire harness on the air duct hose. To do this, use the release lever "80. 200". To facilitate removal, use a silicone-free spray if necessary.

Unlock the fastening bracket "2" in the "direction of the arrow" and remove the connecting hose "1" to the intercooler from the intake manifold. Mark the direction of rotation of the poly V-belt with chalk or a felt-tip pen. Changing the direction of rotation of a previously used belt may damage it.

To loosen the tension of the poly V-belt, tilt the tensioner with a spanner in the "direction of the arrow". Fix the poly V-belt tensioner with the help of the mandrel "T10060 A" in the holes. Remove the poly V-belt.

Unscrew the poly V-belt tensioner "arrows".

Unscrew the wire of terminal 30/B+ "pos. 2" from the generator. Disconnect connector "1".
Unscrew the generator mounting bolts "1" and "2".

If the alternator is clamped in the bracket, tighten the mounting bolts 2 turns again. Gently tap the flat surface of the hammer on the bolt heads to release the alternator mounting bushings. Remove the alternator upwards.
Installation

Installation is in the reverse order, taking into account the following. To facilitate installation of the generator, move the mounting bolts back a little. This should facilitate the movement of the generator mounting bushings, since otherwise the clamping force of the bushing, despite the corresponding torque, is too small. Pay attention to the correct fit and movement of the poly V-belt.
Poly V-belt running in a car without air conditioning

Place the poly V-belt on the crankshaft and generator belt pulleys.
Poly V-belt running in a car with an air conditioning system

Place the poly V-belt on the crankshaft and alternator pulleys. Install the poly V-belt on the air conditioner compressor pulley last
All cars
Unload the tensioner and remove the "T10060 A" mandrel from the holes. Check the correct installation of the poly V-belt. Connect the battery. Start the engine and check the movement of the belt.
Tightening torques:
- Generator to holder: 25 Nm
- Poly V-belt tensioner to holder: 25 Nm
- Terminal 30/V+ to generator: 16 Nm
