Withdrawal
Disconnect the ground wire in the battery with the ignition off. Wash the outside of the hood and wipe with suede. Unlock the service cover from the inside. Unlock the hood and pull forward a little. Remove the hood. Where present, remove the hose from the holders. Remove the engine compartment cover.
Unclip resonator holder -4- using release lever -80.200- on lock carrier. Unscrew bolts -2-. Remove water trap -3- in -direction of arrow-. Detach hose -1- from lock carrier and air intake housing. Unclip retainer -5- for wiring harness on air hose. To do this, use the release lever -80. 200-. Use a silicone-free spray if necessary to facilitate removal.
Unlock retaining clip -2- in -direction of arrow- and remove connecting hose -1- to intercooler from intake manifold. Mark the direction of rotation of the V-ribbed belt with chalk or felt-tip pen. Reversing the running direction of a previously used belt can damage it.
To loosen the tension of the V-ribbed belt, use a ring wrench to tilt the tensioner in -direction of the arrow-. Secure poly V-belt tensioner with drift -T10060 A- in holes. Remove poly V-belt.
Unscrew tensioner for poly V-belt -arrows-.
Unscrew terminal 30/B+ wire -pos.2- from alternator. Disconnect connector -1-.
Unscrew securing bolts -1- and -2- for alternator.
If the alternator is clamped in the bracket, tighten the fastening bolts 2 turns again. Gently tap the bolt heads with the flat surface of a hammer to unlock the alternator mounting bushings. Remove the alternator in an upward direction.
Installation
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following. To facilitate the installation of the generator, slide the mounting bolts a little back on the bushings. This should facilitate the movement of the alternator fastening bushes, since otherwise the clamping force of the bushing, despite the corresponding torque, is too small. Pay attention to the correct seating and running of the V-ribbed belt.
Poly V-belt travel in vehicles without air conditioning
Slide the V-ribbed belt onto the crankshaft and alternator pulleys.
Poly V-belt travel on vehicles with air conditioning
Slide the V-ribbed belt onto the crankshaft and alternator pulleys. On the air conditioning compressor pulley, install the V-ribbed belt last
All cars
Unload tensioner and remove drift -T10060 A- from bores. Check the correct installation of the V-ribbed belt. Connect battery. Start engine and check belt movement.
Tightening torques:
- Alternator to holder: 25 Nm
- V-ribbed belt tensioner to holder: 25 Nm
- Terminal 30/B+ to alternator: 16 Nm
