Removal
Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off. Remove the noise insulation screen.
Instructions: Before removing the poly V-belt, mark its direction of movement with chalk or a felt-tip pen. Moving a previously used belt in the opposite direction may cause it to break.
To loosen the tension of the poly V-belt, tilt the tensioner with a spanner in the direction of the "arrow". Fix the poly V-belt tensioner with the help of the mandrel "T10060 A" in the holes. Remove the poly V-belt. Wash the hood from the outside and wipe with chamois leather.

Unlock the service cover from the inside. Unlock the hood "arrows" and pull it forward a little. Pull the hood cover "VAS 6011" onto the hood. Remove the hood. Remove the engine compartment cover. Remove the noise protection located below, for this remove the engine crankcase ventilation hose. Disconnect the plug connector "1" of the intake manifold pressure sensor "G71". Release the electrical cables. Remove the air duct hose "2" between the intercooler and the intake manifold.

Unscrew the poly V-belt tensioner "arrows".

Unscrew the wire of terminal 30/B+ "pos. 2" from the generator. Disconnect connector "1".

Unscrew the generator mounting bolts "1" and "2". If the generator jams in the bracket, screw the mounting bolt back in up to 2 turns. Carefully tap the flat side of the hammer on the bolt heads, this will release the threaded bushings of the generator mounting.

Remove the generator by moving it downwards.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order, taking into account the following. To facilitate installation of the generator, move the mounting bolts back a little. This should facilitate the movement of the generator mounting bushings, since otherwise the clamping force of the bushing, despite the corresponding torque, is too small. Pay attention to the correct fit and movement of the poly V-belt.
Poly V-belt running in a car without air conditioning

Place the poly V-belt on the crankshaft and generator belt pulleys.
Poly V-belt running in a car with an air conditioning system

Place the poly V-belt on the crankshaft and alternator pulleys. Install the poly V-belt on the air conditioner compressor pulley last.
All cars
Unload the tensioner and remove the "T10060 A" mandrel from the hole. Check the correct installation of the poly V-belt. Connect the battery. Start the engine and check the movement of the drive belt.
Tightening torques:
- Generator to holder: 25 Nm
- Poly V-belt tensioner to holder: 25 Nm
- Terminal 30/V+ to generator: 16 Nm
