The engine number ("engine letter designation" and "serial number") is located in front on the left under the high-pressure pump toothed belt "arrow". Additionally, a sticker with the "engine letter designation" and "serial number" is applied to the protective cover of the toothed belt. The engine letter designations starting with the letter "C" are 4-digit. The first 3 digits determine the working volume and mechanical design of the engine. They, including the current number, are stamped on the cylinder block. The 4th digit is intended to indicate the power and torque of the engine and depends on the engine control unit.
The engine number is hidden by the poly V-belt idler pulley. The 4-digit engine letter designation is also shown on the nameplate (export version), on the sticker with the vehicle data and on the engine control unit.
