The mufflers are separated by cutting with a conventional chain saw, for example, HAZET 4682. If the specified tool is not available, you can cut it with a hacksaw.
Warning: If the muffler does not come out of the clamp, there are two possibilities for dismantling it: cut the pipe 5 cm behind the clamp. Then knock down the rest of the pipe with a chisel and hammer. The second possibility: in the presence of a gas-cutting apparatus, the clamp should be heated. This will expand the tube, allowing it to be removed.
Warning: Cover the underside of the car with an asbestos cloth before using the flame cutting machine. Never heat the muffler near the plastic fuel tank. There is a risk of fire. Keep a fire extinguisher ready.
Removal in the version of the central/additional muffler as a single unit
Warning: There is danger when lifting and placing the vehicle on stands! Therefore, first read the chapter car jacking.
1. Raise and place the car on stands.
2. The place of separation of the muffler is marked with recesses. Separation is made at the middle markings (arrow 2). Side markings (arrows 1 and 3) serve as indicators of the depth of insertion of pipes into the clamp.
3. Place the splitter chain around the middle markings -2- and tighten. Roll the chain in different directions, pulling it up to prevent deformation of the pipe when cutting.
4. Disconnect the muffler from the rubber holders and remove.
Installation
5. Insert the muffler into the rubber holders.
6. A spare clamp is used to connect the pipes.
Warning: Be sure to replace previously used clamps, they are not reused. Since pipes of different diameters are used depending on the model of the car, pay attention to the spare parts used.
7. Expose the exhaust system, while referring to the subsection Removal and installation of the exhaust system.
8. Fasten the clamp with a torque of 40 Nm. The bolts must be horizontal and point to the left side of the vehicle.
