The rated voltage of the on-board network is 12 V. The vehicle's electrical equipment consists of a storage battery, a generator, a starter, electricity consumers and electrical circuits.
The lighting system includes: headlights, rear lights, fog lights, direction indicators, license plate lights and interior lights.
The battery is charged by a generator, which is driven by a belt from the crankshaft pulley.
To start the engine, a starter is used, which is a mixed-excitation DC electric motor with an electromagnetic traction relay. When starting, the traction relay moves the pinion gear into engagement with the flywheel ring gear before the starter is powered by the battery. After starting the engine, the freewheel disengages the starter armature from the flywheel ring gear.
Precautions
In order to prevent damage to semiconductor devices when working with electrical equipment, the following requirements must be met:
- while the engine is running, do not disconnect the wires from the battery, alternator or any electrical connectors;
- before carrying out any work, remove the negative terminal from the battery;
- When doing electric welding on a vehicle, turn off the alternator and engine control first.
