Jacking
Carry out raising only an unladen vehicle, on a flat area with a hard surface.
To raise the vehicle, use a jack placed under the vehicle body support points, which are located approximately 15 cm behind the front wheel arch and 25 cm in front of the rear wheel arch (see fig. 10.13).
Install the jack under the car, while the jack foot should tightly cover the vertical edge of the side member so that when the car is raised, the jack cannot slip (see fig. 10.14). At the same time, the position of the jack should be leveled and the leg of the jack should be raised until it fits snugly against the vertical rib. Place chocks under the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
Attention. When placing the jack on soft ground, the vehicle may fall off the jack. Therefore, it is necessary to put the jack on solid ground. If necessary, a stable and relatively large support should be used.
Turn the jack handle to raise the vehicle just enough so that the wheel does not rise off the ground. Install an additional stand under the car.
Lifting
A lift is used to lift the vehicle.
To prevent damage to the bottom of the car, rubberized material should be installed on the paws of the lift.
Attention. Do not lift the car by placing the lifter legs under the crankcase oil pan, under the gearbox, under the rear or front axles, otherwise serious damage to components and assemblies may occur.
Before entering the lift, check that there is sufficient distance between the lowest points of the vehicle and the lift elements.
At the front of the car, install the lift foot under the longitudinal reinforcement of the bottom of the body, in the area of the mark for installing the jack (see fig. 10.15).
At the rear of the car, install the lift foot under the vertical reinforcement of the crossbar, in the area of the mark for installing the jack (see fig. 10.16).
