Cars with gasoline engines. Check the ignition, fuel injection and fuel systems. Electronic faults can only be detected with special control and measuring devices.
Cars with diesel engines, check the preheating system and fuel system.
The engine starts poorly or does not start at all
The fuse is faulty:
- fuel pump with electric drive;
- electronic injection system;
- preheating systems.
Check the fuse.
Petrol engines
Ignition system malfunction
Contact a workshop for a system check of the engine management.
The engine control unit is faulty
Have the engine control unit checked at a workshop.
Faulty, contaminated fuel system
Check the fuel pump and lines.
The starter turns too slowly
Charge the battery. Check the power supply to the starter. Clean the contacts.
The anti-theft system is activated
The engine starts, but stalls after a while. At the same time, the anti-theft system warning light on the instrument panel lights up for a while.
Do one of the following:
- insert the key into the ignition switch, turning it 90°;
- turn on the remote control near the receiving antenna (inside the car);
- insert the key into the ignition switch, removing it from the key fob (keychain);
- use a spare key.
Replace the batteries in the remote control. If necessary, contact a workshop to read the codes registered by the self-diagnostic unit of the anti-theft system.
