Warning: Before adjusting the tailgate, it is necessary to install the gas-filled strut, refer to the subsection Removal and installation the tailgate.

1. Loosely secure the locking element –1– with nuts –2–.

2. Loosely tighten the adjusting stop –1– at the bottom of the lock trim panel with bolt –2–.

3. Loosen the clamping screw –2– and pull out the adjusting stop –3– slightly. 1 – rivet.
4. Close the tailgate –4– and adjust it by moving it longitudinally and transversely so as to ensure a uniform gap with respect to the adjacent body elements. The tailgate lock must be fixed in the lock element in the second position. The gap size is specified in the Specifications.
5. When performing this operation, the adjusting stops must be moved to the correct position.
6. Open the tailgate and lightly tighten the clamping screw –2– to 2 Nm. To achieve the specified torque, the service station uses a torque screwdriver.
7. Close the tailgate.

8. Adjust the stops –1– from the inside using a feeler gauge so that their distance in relation to the lining of the lock element is 1 mm.
Caution: When the tailgate is closed, the adjusting stops –1– must not touch the lock trim.
9. Tighten bolt –2– to 8 Nm.
10. Check the clearance, refer to Specifications.
