Removal
1. Open the hood.
2. Mark the position of the hood. To do this, circle the mounting bolts on the hinges with a felt-tip pen (from the hood side).
3. Have an assistant support the hood.
Warning: When removing the gas-filled strut, do not remove the locking spring –4– completely. Otherwise, the strut may be damaged and will have to be replaced.
4. Disconnect the gas-filled strut –3– from the hood. To do this, slightly lift the locking spring –4– with a screwdriver. Remove the strut from the ball joint. If the strut needs to be removed completely, lift the lower spring in the same way as the upper one and remove the ball joint.
5. Remove the mounting bolts –6– on the bonnet and remove the bonnet with the help of an assistant.
Installation
1. If necessary, restore the paintwork of the hood.
2. Reinstall the hood. Align the hood using the markings made during removal and secure with bolts –6–. If a new hood is installed, it must be adjusted.
3. Place the stop –3– on the ball joint and secure it with the spring –4–.
4. If the shock absorbers –2– have been removed, they must be readjusted. Turn the outer shock absorbers to adjust the height. Screw the inner shock absorbers in fully and then back them out ½ turn. The bonnet must be flush with the adjacent body parts.
Adjusting the hood
1. Slightly loosen the mounting bolts –6– on the bonnet side so that it can be moved in the longitudinal and transverse directions.

2. Loosen the hook mounting nuts slightly (nuts –1–, hook –2–).

3. Slightly loosen the hood lock mounting bolts (screws –1–, hood lock –2–, holder –3–).
4. Close the hood and move it so that there is an even gap between the adjacent body elements, refer to Specifications.
5. Adjust the height of the bonnet by turning the outer shock absorbers –2–.
6. Carefully open the exposed hood so as not to change the position of the hood hinges.
7. Tighten the hinge mounting bolts to 20 Nm.
8. Tighten the bonnet lock mounting bolts to 20 Nm.
9. Tighten the hook mounting nuts to 8 Nm.
