The fully automatic climate control system works in the same way as the system in the Audi A4. It has just been adapted to the center console of the Audi A2. Sensors (to recognize the state) and actuators together with the control unit serve to automatically regulate the temperature and intensity of air supply.

The Audi A2 has three buses with different data transfer rates. The used instrument cluster serves as a gateway. If one of the two wires fails, the CAN comfort bus continues to operate, but in emergency mode. A corresponding error is written to the fault memory. When the ignition is turned on, the E87 control and display panel starts working using the temperature, air flow distribution and supply fan speed settings that were in effect when the ignition was last turned off with the same key. The key is recognized by reading the fixed transponder code. The E87 control and display panel receives this information via the CAN bus from the immobilizer control unit. The used comfort systems are connected via buses to other units. Which ones exactly depends on the vehicle configuration.

  • J104 - Used ABS with EDS
  • J217 - Used automatic transmission
  • J285 - Used with display in instrument cluster
  • J537 - Used 4LV (engine)
  • E87 - Climate control and indicator unit
