Withdrawal
Remove the wiper arm. Remove the engine hood.
Disconnect washer pipe -3-. Where present, disconnect connectors -4- and -5- for heated washer nozzles. Remove hose clamp -6- with hose clamp pliers -VAG 1921- and remove water drain hose from fairing grille. Remove seal -1- for fairing grille.
Carefully! Risk of damaging the fairing grille. To prevent damage to the fairing grille -2-, when removing, lightly treat the joint between the windshield and the fairing grille with soapy water and remove the grille vertically upwards, starting from the mounting strip.
Remove fairing grille -2-. Loosely lay the washer tube. Remove nuts and bolts -arrows-. Pull the fresh air duct forward and move it to the right side of the vehicle.
Remove the resonator on the air duct hose -arrow 1-; to do this, press the release buttons. Remove air duct, to do this loosen spring clips -arrows 2- with hose clip pliers -VAG 1921-.
Remove non-return valve -1- from oil filler neck -2- -arrow A- and set aside. Arrows -B, C- are ignored.
Unplug connector -2- for air mass meter -G70-. Remove clamp -arrow- and remove connection -1- with air mass meter -G70-.
Disconnect connector -3-. Remove bolts -arrows- and move throttle valve unit -3338- to one side with coolant hoses -1- and -2- connected.
Remove bolts -arrows- for exhaust manifold pipe.
Detach hose -2- from absorber. Remove bolts -arrows- and remove intake manifold support -3-. Unplug connector -4- and remove exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- with exhaust gas recirculation potentiometer -G212-.
Installation
Reinstall in reverse order, replacing gaskets. Use clamps of the appropriate series to fasten all hose connections. Install the throttle body. Install the supply air duct.
