Removal
Remove the windshield wiper arm. Remove the engine hood.

Disconnect washer tube "3". Where available, disconnect connectors "4" and "5" for heated washer nozzles. Remove hose clamp "6" with hose clamp pliers "V.A.G 1921" and remove the water drain hose from the fairing grille. Remove the seal "1" for the fairing grille.
Caution! Risk of damage to the fairing grille. To prevent damage to the fairing grille "2" when removing, lightly apply soapy water to the joint between the windshield and the fairing grille and remove the grille vertically upwards, starting from the mounting strip.
Remove the fairing grille "2". Lay the washer tube loosely. Unscrew the nuts and bolts "arrows". Pull the fresh air duct forward and move it to the right side of the car.

Remove the resonator on the air duct hose "arrow 1" by pressing the locking buttons. Remove the air duct by loosening the spring clamps "arrow 2" with pliers for hose clamps "V.A.G 1921".

Remove the check valve "1" from the oil filler pipe "2" "arrow A" and put it aside. Do not take arrows "B, C" into account.

Disconnect connector "2" of air flow meter "G70". Remove clamp "arrow" and remove fitting "1" with air flow meter "G70".

Disconnect connector "3". Unscrew bolts "arrows", put aside throttle valve unit "3338" with connected coolant hoses "1" and "2".

Unscrew the "arrow" bolts for the exhaust manifold pipe.

Remove hose "2" from the absorber. Unscrew bolts "arrows" and remove the intake manifold support "3". Disconnect connector "4" and remove the EGR valve "N18" with the EGR potentiometer "G212".
Installation

Installation is in reverse order, replacing the gaskets. Use clamps of the appropriate series to secure all hose connections. Install the throttle valve unit. Install the fresh air duct.
