Withdrawal
The immobilizer reading coil is attached to the lock cylinder and cannot be replaced separately. If the reading coil is defective, the lock cylinder must be replaced. When replacing the lock cylinder, follow the instructions for the immobilizer reading coil. Remove the steering column switch. Disconnect the read coil connector.
Audi A2 "31": move the gear selector lever to position "STOP". Turn the ignition key to position "Zundung ein/Ignition incl." -arrow-. Then lift the locking clip -1- and remove the interlock -2- from the ignition lock housing. To remove the lock cylinder, you need a spare key without lighting and remote control functions, because. removal is possible only with a wrench with a flat handle.
Turn the spare key to the ''Zuendung EIN/Ignition ON' position.", while the cutout in the trim -arrow- is blocked by the hole in the ignition lock. For better understanding, the correct position of the lock without the ignition key is shown.
Insert steel wire or pin -1- (approx. 1.5mm) into the hole until it stops and at the same time remove the lock cylinder -2- with the reading coil from the housing -3- of the steering shaft lock.
Attention! It is not allowed to actuate the steering shaft lock without a lock cylinder, because, otherwise, the lock is completely blocked. A locked steering shaft lock must be replaced. When replacing the lock cylinder, follow the instructions for the immobilizer reading coil.
Installation
Install in the reverse order, while inserting the spare key into the cylinder and turning it to the position "Ignition on". Re-insert the steel wire or pin -1- into the front hole as far as it will go. Insert lock cylinder -2- with pickup coil into housing -3- of steering lock. Then remove the steel wire and press the lock cylinder inward until a clearly audible click. Connect the immobilizer reader coil connector. Turn the ignition key to position "Zundung ein/Ignition incl.". Insert locking rod -2- into ignition lock housing until it clicks. Stopper -1- must be flush with ignition lock housing. Install the steering column switch.
