Warnings: Before removing with chalk, marker or paint, mark the direction of rotation of the V-ribbed belt. If, when installing a used V-ribbed belt, it rotates in the opposite direction, this will lead to its destruction. Make sure the V-ribbed belt is correctly positioned on the pulleys.
Do not open the refrigerant circuit of the air conditioning system.

Shims 17 (pic. 3.4–24) come in various thicknesses and serve to adjust the alignment of the pulley and poly-V-belt.
Remove the front cross member of the engine compartment.
Pic. 3.4–4. Releasing tension on the V-ribbed belt
Loosen the poly V-belt tension by turning the tensioner clockwise with the wrench (see fig. 3.4–4).
Pic. 3.4–25. Using a hex wrench to lock the poly V-belt tensioner in a loose position
To lock the poly V-belt tensioner in a loose position, insert the hex wrench into the locking channels (pic. 3.4–25).
Remove the V-ribbed belt and release the V-ribbed belt tensioner.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Install the V-ribbed belt first on the crankshaft pulley, then on the idler pulleys, and lastly on the idler pulley.
Start the engine and check the correct operation of the V-ribbed belt.
Install the front cross member.
