A sign of a coded radio is the presence of a red symbol in the form of a key on the front trim. If the red LED on the front side flashes when the ignition key is removed, this means that the coding is activated and the radio is ready for operation.
The code prevents unauthorized switching on of the radio receiver if its power supply has been interrupted. The power to the radio is interrupted, for example, when it is removed, disconnected from the battery, or a fuse blows.
If the radio is coded, it is necessary to set the radio code before disconnecting the battery or removing the radio. If the code is not known, only the HUNDRED AUDI can turn on the radio.
Individual code code number is given in the instruction manual of the radio receiver. It should not be stored in a car.
Removing the electronic lock
1. Turn on the power, turn on the radio.
2. Press the keys at the same time «FM» And «DX» until the message appears on the display «CODE». Release the keys, the message is automatically displayed shortly after «1000».
Warning: At the radio «chorus» And «concert» instead of keys «FM» And «DX» keys are pressed «TR» And «RDS».
3. Use the station selection keys 1 to 4 to enter the secret code. In this case, key 1 enters the first place of the code number, key 2 enters the second place, etc. Press the key the number of times corresponding to the code number.
4. Then again press the keys simultaneously «FM» And «DX» until a message appears «SAFE». Release the keys. The radio is now ready for use again. The frequency is automatically displayed.
Warning: If an incorrect code is entered by mistake, the message "SAFE" flashes first and then stays on. Now the whole input process can be repeated one more time. If an incorrect code is entered again, the radio will be blocked for approximately 1 hour. After 1 hour has elapsed - the radio must remain switched on - the lock is removed. The input loop is repeated on subsequent attempts.
Vehicles manufactured since 8/98 equipped with radios "beta" And "gamma"
After the radio is connected to a power source, data is automatically exchanged between the radio and the instrument panel unit. This compares the code recorded when the anti-theft protection was first activated. If the code matches, the radio is ready for operation.
The radio is blocked if it is installed in another vehicle, or if the instrument panel assembly is replaced. In this case, it is necessary to unlock by entering the code.
