Pic. 6–9. Location of the electrical connector of the engine oil level sensor (1) and return hose (2) crankcase ventilation systems
Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil level sensor (pic. 6–9).
Place a container under the engine to collect engine oil.
Drain engine oil, by unscrewing the oil drain plug about half a turn. Place an oil drain container under the oil drain plug and unscrew the plug completely. If necessary, press down on the plug when unscrewing to prevent the oil from escaping prematurely.
When the oil has completely drained out, screw the plug back in place.
Remove the return hose 2 of the crankcase ventilation system (see fig. 6–9).
Unscrew the bolts and remove the lower section of the oil pan.
Using a plastic or wooden scraper, clean the mating surfaces of the upper and lower sections of the oil pan from the old gasket.
Pic. 6–10. The place where a layer of silicone sealant with a diameter of 3 mm is applied to the mating surface of the oil pan
Apply a layer of silicone sealant with a diameter of 3 mm to the mating surface of the oil pan (pic. 6–10).
The sealant layer should be no more than 3 mm in diameter, as excess sealant can get into the oil and block the strainer.
Install the lower section of the oil pan to the engine.
Tighten the mounting bolts first to 5 Nm, and then finally to 10 Nm.
Fill with coolant.
Pour into the engine engine oil.
3.3L Diesel Oil Pump Drive Chain
Remove the front cover from the cylinder block.
Pic. 6–11. The location of the bolts of the oil pump drive chain tensioner on a 3.3 l diesel engine
Lock the oil pump drive chain tensioner with dowel pin T40011 (pic. 6–11).
Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the chain tensioner.
Secure the oil pump sprocket against rotation with a special tool and unscrew the sprocket mounting bolt.
Remove the sprocket from the oil pump shaft along with the chain.
If necessary, remove the chain drive sprocket from the crankshaft.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
When installing the chain drive sprocket, the marking on the sprocket must face forward.
When installing the oil pump sprocket, the markings on the sprocket must point to the rear.
Install the cylinder block front cover.
Diesel engine oil pump 3.3L
Remove the bottom section of the oil pan.
Remove the oil pump drive chain.
Pic. 6–12. Arrangement of bolts of fastening of a damper of the oil pallet
Unscrew the bolts and remove the oil pan damper (pic. 6–12).
Pic. 6–13. The location of the oil pump mounting bolts
Unscrew the bolts and remove the oil pump (pic. 6–13).
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Install the oil pump drive chain.
Install the bottom section of the oil pan.
3.3L diesel engine upper oil pan
Remove the back cover.
Remove the oil pump.
Remove the left and right turbochargers.
Remove the oil filter bracket with heat exchanger.
Unscrew the bolt and remove the guide tube for the pointer (probe) oil level.
Remove the charge air pressure control valve.
Remove the power steering hydraulic pump.
Remove the left engine mount.
Remove the left pipe of the cooling system.

Pic. 6–15. The location of the bolts of the upper section of the oil pan of the diesel engine 3.3 l
Unscrew the bolts securing the upper section of the oil pan and remove the oil pan (pic. 6–15).
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
At installation it is necessary to use new sealing rings and laying. Apply a thin layer of AMV 188 001 02 to the gaskets.
Use a plastic or wooden scraper to clean the mating surfaces of the upper section of the oil pan and cylinder block from the old gasket.
Pic. 6–16. Places for applying a layer of silicone sealant with a diameter of 3 mm on the mating surface of the oil pan
Apply a layer of silicone sealant with a diameter of 3 mm to the mating surface of the oil pan (pic. 6–16).
The sealant layer should not exceed 2-3 mm in diameter, as excess sealant can get into the oil and block the strainer.
Install the upper section of the oil pan and secure with bolts.
Install the oil pump.
Install the back cover.
Install the bottom section of the oil pan. Tighten the mounting bolts evenly diagonally.
Install the oil filter bracket.
Install the right and left turbochargers.
