Fuel filter with fastening elements and hoses

Removal
The fuel filter –1– is located on the underbody in front of the fuel tank, facing the direction of travel. It is not necessary to replace the filter as part of maintenance.
Warning: Some fuel may leak when removing the fuel pump. Fuel vapors are toxic and flammable, so make sure the work area is especially well ventilated. Avoid contact of fuel with skin. Use fuel-resistant gloves. Do not use open flames. There is a danger fire! Keep a fire extinguisher at hand.
1. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands. Place a container under the fuel filter –1– to collect any leaking fuel.
2. Clamp the fuel hoses 2/3 with suitable clamps, for example HAZET 4590.
3. Squeeze the quick release couplings and disconnect the fuel hoses from the filter. Cover the connection with a thick rag. Then, carefully remove the pressure by disconnecting the hose.
4. Disconnect the holder –4– by unscrewing the screw –5–.
Warning: Filter is full of fuel.
Installation
1. Install the new fuel filter so that the marking on the filter points in the direction from the tank to the engine. 7 – to the fuel rail at the engine.
2. Put on the hoses, while securing the couplings.
3. Drive the vehicle and check the hose connections for leaks.
