"dEF" indication on the trip meter
If the instrument cluster control unit detects an error in the ROM, the "dEF" indication appears in the trip meter. If the "dEF" indication appears, replace the instrument cluster control unit.
Removal
It is prohibited to disassemble the instrument cluster control unit. If the instrument cluster with control unit on the control panel "J285" is replaced, select the "Replace" function "3285" in the "Guided functions" menu, switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.
Instructions: After installation, all cable ties removed or cut during dismantling must be reinstalled. It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel to remove the instrument cluster.
Set the steering wheel as far back and down as possible, using the entire adjustment range of the steering column for this. Unscrew the bolts "1". Carefully remove the instrument cluster visor "2" upwards. If necessary, pry it off with the wedge "3409" and separate it from the front panel. If the visor cannot be removed in this way, it is necessary to additionally unlock the fastenings of the locking plates "arrows" on the footwell side. To do this, proceed as follows: set the light switch to position "0". Press the switch "arrow 1" and at the same time turn it to the right "arrow 2".

While holding the switch in this position, remove the light switch from the switch housing "arrow 3". Remove the storage compartment on the driver's side.

Remove cover "1" on the instrument cluster in the "direction of the arrow".

Unscrew bolts "3". Lift the instrument cluster upwards. Where present, cut the cable ties on the back of the instrument cluster.

Disconnect the plug connector from the instrument cluster; to do this, unlock the lock, turn the mounting bracket in the "direction of the arrow" and remove the plug.

Unlock the "arrow" fastening brackets on the left and right of the instrument cluster. Remove the "1" trim from the instrument cluster.
Installation
Installation in reverse order, taking into account that all clamps during installation should be installed in the places where they were originally installed. Connect the plug connectors and fix the wiring harness in the clamp on the back of the "arrow" instrument cluster. Install the upper fastening screw "3" with threaded varnish.
Tightening torque:
Instrument cluster to control panel: top. 3.5 Nm (install using thread sealant), from below. 3.5 Nm.
