Withdrawal
Remove the engine hood. Remove the oil dipstick from the guide tube.
Remove guide tube -1- of dipstick; to do this, press the release buttons. Remove oil filler pipe -2- from oil filler container. Remove exhaust pipe with catalytic converter. Unscrew bolt -arrow-, remove support with guide tube for oil dipstick and oil filler tube from sump.
Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove heat shield for right drive shaft.
Unplug electrical connector -1- for oil level and oil temperature sender -G266-.
Place oil extractor -VAG 1782- under engine and drain off oil. Remove bolts -arrows- for oil sump and gearbox. Loosen and unscrew oil sump bolts -1- in a diagonal pattern. Carefully separate the oil pan from the bonding point.
Installation
Install in reverse order, but the seal must be replaced. O-ring on the guide tube of the oil dipstick. Remove sealant residues from oil sump and cylinder block, e.g. with a rotating plastic bristle brush. Clean the seating surfaces: they must be free of oil and grease. Cut off part of the tube at the front mark (hole approx. 2 mm).
Carefully! Danger of clogging of the lubrication system channel with an excess of sealant. The sealant bead must not be thicker than the minimum size.
Apply bead of sealant -arrow- to clean seating surface of sump as shown in illustration. Sealant bead thickness: 2.3mm.
Instruction. Pay in the area. sealant must be applied with particular care. Install the oil pan within 5 minutes of applying the sealant.
Install oil pan and tighten bolts.
Installation is in reverse order, but it is necessary to install the heat shield of the drive shaft. Install the support with the guide tube for the oil dipstick and the oil filler tube. Install downpipe with catalytic converter. Fill with oil and check its level.
