Thermostat for 3.3L diesel engines (Audi A8 D2)

The thermostat is located in a housing mounted on the engine cylinder block.

Drain the coolant.

Remove the timing belt from the camshaft pulleys.

Unscrew the bolts and remove the rear timing belt cover.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant temperature sensor.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant temperature sensor.

Remove the three bolts and remove the thermostat housing from the front of the cylinder head (Fig. 7–26).

Remove the sealing ring and thermostat from the cylinder head. Check the thermostat for proper operation.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Install the thermostat into the cylinder head so that the air bleed valve is located at the top.
