The bottom and top casings of a steering column are shown on fig. 16-45.
Withdrawal
Before disconnecting the battery, find out if you have a radio activation code.
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire «masses» from the battery.

Loosen the two mounting screws and remove the upper steering column cover (pic. 16–46).
Set the wheels of the car to move straight ahead.

Using a wrench, unscrew the Torx airbag mounting bolts located on the sides on the back of the steering wheel (see fig. 14–2).
Warning: The steering wheel coil electrical connector must not be disconnected when the steering wheel is removed.
Tilt the airbag back, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the airbag.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the steering wheel coil.
unscrew the nut (or bolt) and remove the steering wheel.
Pull towards you to remove the bottom cover.

On models with mechanical steering column adjustment, remove screws 1 (pic. 16–47) and remove the steering column adjustment knob.
Turn away screws 7 and 8 and remove the lower casing of a steering column.
On models with electric steering column adjustment, disconnect the electrical connector from the steering column adjustment switch. Unscrew the switch mounting bolts and remove it.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
