Anti-theft lock elements

Anti-theft lock elements

  • 1 - electronic anti-theft locking system control device

Built into the instrument panel unit
  • 2 - anti-theft lock reading coil

The coil is located on the steering lock housing and is connected by cable to the control unit.
  • 3 - transponder, built into the ignition key

The car is equipped with a serial anti-theft alarm. Once activated, the system prevents the engine from starting if a key with an incorrect code is used.

The system consists of:
  • Electronic anti-theft locking system control device (built into the instrument panel unit).
  • Anti-theft lock indicator light.
  • Engine control device.
  • Reading coil on the ignition switch.
  • Ignition key with built-in transponder. The transponder is a transceiver unit that operates without a battery.

Execution order

1. The anti-theft lock is activated when the ignition key is removed.

2. When the ignition is switched on, electrical energy is inductively transmitted via the reading coil to the transponder in the key. The key code is read and transmitted to the anti-theft lock control unit. There, the key code is compared with the stored value.

3. If the codes match, the anti-theft lock indicator lamp in the control unit lights up and goes out after 3 seconds.

4. If the codes are not matched, the indicator lamp flashes when the ignition is on and the engine cannot be started. The following may be the reasons, among others:
  • the reading process is hampered by an extra key on the keychain;
  • the code is corrupted.

5. The electronic check of the anti-theft lock is carried out by the AUDI diagnostic device by interrogating the fault memory.

Secret number

The secret number for new cars is located on the key fob. It is necessary for coding a new key.

Identification number

The identification number is required to obtain a secret number from the factory if the latter is lost. It is also located on the key fob, but can be read from the anti-theft lock control unit.
