Anti-theft lock elements
- 1 - control device for the electronic anti-theft locking system
Built into the instrument cluster
- 2 - anti-theft blocking reading coil
The coil is located on the casing of the steering lock and is connected by a cable to the control device.
- 3 - transponder built into the ignition key
The car is equipped with a serial anti-theft alarm. Once activated, the system prevents the engine from starting if a key with the wrong code is used.
The system consists of:
- Electronic anti-theft lock control device (built into the instrument panel).
- Control lamp anti-theft blocking.
- Engine control device.
- Reader coil on the ignition lock.
- Ignition key with built-in transponder. The transponder is a transceiver unit that operates without a battery.
Order of execution
1. The anti-theft lock is activated when the ignition key is removed.
2. When the ignition is switched on, electrical energy is inductively transmitted via the readout coil to the transponder in the key. The key code is read and transmitted to the anti-theft lock control unit. There, the key code is compared with the stored value.
3. If the codes match, the anti-theft lock warning lamp lights up in the control unit and goes out after 3 seconds.
4. If the codes are not matched, the control lamp flashes when the ignition is on and the engine cannot be started. Among others, there may be the following reasons:
- the reading process is hindered by an additional key on the keychain;
- corrupted code.
5. The electronic check of the anti-theft lock is carried out by the AUDI diagnostic tool by interrogating the fault memory.
Secret number
The secret number for new cars is on the key fob. It is required to encode the new key.
An identification number
The identification number is required to obtain a secret number at the factory in case of loss of the latter. It is also located on the key fob but can be read from the anti-theft lock control unit.
