Removal



Remove the rear seat cushion.

On vehicles with a side airbag, find out if you have a radio enable code before disconnecting the battery.

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Before disconnecting the igniter and removing the wiring, discharge static electricity.

Pull to disconnect foam supply line 1 from the connectors on the left and right rear pillars (Fig. 16–73).

Press latch 2 and disconnect electrical connector 3 of the side airbag.

Connect the airbag electrical connector to the VAS 5068 adapter on the left and right sides.

Connect the appropriate connector of the VAS 5068 adapter to any seat connector – now the airbag wires are connected to ground.

On vehicles with a center rear headrest, tilt it back, open the armrest and the overhead luggage cover.

Release curtain 3 (Fig. 16–74) on rollers from base 4.

Unscrew bolts 5, press button 2 at the end of the headrest and remove the central headrest 1.

Unscrew bolts 3 (Fig. 16–75) of the lower fastening of the back of the rear seat 2.

Lift the rear seat back up, releasing it from the holders 1, and disconnect the electrical connectors from the back.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Tighten the rear seat back mounting bolts to 8 N·m.

In vehicles with a side airbag, no one should be present when connecting the battery.

Connect the ground wire to the battery.
